What is it?
AzuraCast Manager is a Windows desktop application that lets you manage AzuraCast radio stations without opening the web panel. It is designed to be used entirely with the keyboard and a screen reader such as NVDA or JAWS: every control has a name, the on/off options are checkboxes, and information updates without moving the screen reader's focus. The program and the iPhone version are available in Spanish and English.
It connects to your AzuraCast with an API key and can store several installations: when you open it, the list of your radios appears and you press Enter on the one you want, without typing the details again. The keys are stored in the Windows Credential Manager.
There is also an iPhone version, further down on this page.
What you can do
Playlists and scheduling
Create, edit, duplicate, empty and delete playlists with all the AzuraCast options: type (general, once every so many songs or minutes, once per hour), random, shuffled or sequential order, weight, remote URL or playlist group, jingles and advanced options. Each playlist is scheduled with time slots that have a start and end time, days of the week and dates, and the list reads them as phrases like "Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 12:00". You can add songs by searching the library, remove them, reorder sequential playlists with Alt and the arrow keys, and import or export M3U and PLS.
Files and what is playing
A file manager with folders to upload songs, edit their tags, move them, download them, delete them and choose which playlists each one is in. With Control plus Enter a song is played next, and with Control, Shift and Enter it plays right away. From the main window you can see what is playing, how much is left until it ends, which song is next, how many listeners there are and who is live, and you can skip the song or restart the AutoDJ and the broadcast server. With Control, Shift and T the reader tells you how much is left and what comes next, and with Control and U you open the play queue with the time each song starts.
Spoken announcements
The program tells you through your screen reader each new song, when a streamer connects or disconnects, if the radio goes off the air or comes back, and when a listener request arrives. Announcements do not interrupt: the reader says them when it finishes what it is reading, and they do not move you from where you are. With Control, Shift and A you turn them off or on, and in Preferences you choose which ones you want. If your AzuraCast allows it, changes arrive instantly.
Alerts on your phone, even when the program is closed
In More features, the Alerts on your phone tab creates in your AzuraCast the webhooks that send an alert to the free ntfy app when a streamer connects or disconnects, the radio goes off the air or comes back, or a new song plays. AzuraCast sends them by itself, so they arrive even if this program is not open. On the iPhone it is in Settings and tools, Alerts on your phone. The secret topic that is generated works like a password.
Radio health and library review
The Health tab checks at once whether the station is on the air, the services, the queue, storage and empty playlists, and with an administrator key also the server disk, services and backups. Review library finds duplicate songs, songs without artist or title, without a playlist, very short or very long, and without cover art, and lets you fix or delete them.
Broadcasting live
You go on the air as a streamer from the same program, without BUTT or Mixxx: you choose the station, the microphone, mixer or sound card, the quality, and press Broadcast. With Control, Shift and M you mute the microphone, and with F2 the reader tells you how long you have been on the air and how the sound level is. It warns you if no sound arrives or if it is clipping, and if the connection drops it retries by itself. You can save a copy of the broadcast on your computer. On the iPhone you can also broadcast with the microphone, from the station screen.
Everything else
Station settings (requests, live streamers, HLS, public page), streamers and their recordings, mount points, relays, webhooks, play queue, received requests, SFTP users, podcasts, listener reports by country, device or listening time, the most played songs, and system administration for those who are administrators.
When you close the window it stays in the system tray, from where you can ask what is playing or skip the song without opening it.
iPhone version
There is also a native iPhone version, designed to be used with VoiceOver: every item has its name, the actions of each list (skip, delete, enable, edit) are in the actions rotor when you swipe up or down with one finger, and spoken announcements do not move the focus. It has the features of the Windows one: what is playing and how much is left, skip song, queue, playlists with their schedules, file manager (with rename, move, delete and multiple selection), requests, streamers, podcasts, station settings, reports, system administration, radio health, alerts on your phone and library review, and you can broadcast live with the microphone (use headphones). It is available in Spanish and English (Preferences, Language). It requires iOS 16 or later, your own AzuraCast and an API key. It is a test version (0.3.1): it may fail, and spoken announcements only arrive while the app is open.
It is not on the App Store yet, so to install it you need AltStore, a free program that installs apps on your iPhone from a Windows or Mac computer. With a free Apple ID the app expires after 7 days and AltStore renews it by itself as long as AltServer is open on your computer and the iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network. Also, a free account only fits three apps at a time, counting AltStore: if you already have three, deactivate one in My Apps before installing this one.
Steps: 1) install iTunes and iCloud downloaded from apple.com, not from the Microsoft Store, and AltServer from altstore.io; 2) connect the iPhone with a cable, tap Trust and turn on Developer Mode in Settings, Privacy and Security; 3) with the AltServer icon in the system tray choose Install AltStore and your iPhone, and trust your Apple ID in Settings, General, VPN and Device Management; 4) on the iPhone, tap the Add to AltStore link below (or, in AltStore, go to Sources, tap the plus and paste the address https://arielfmeza.com/azuracastmanager-ios/altstore.json) and then install AzuraCast Manager from the source. That way AltStore tells you when there is a new version and you update it with one tap. If you prefer, you can also download the .ipa file and open it from AltStore, in My Apps, with the plus button, or with Shift + click on your iPhone in the Install AltStore menu of AltServer and Sideload .ipa. The first time, type the address of your AzuraCast and your API key in Add instance.
Before using it on Windows
There are two ways to have it on Windows. The installable version is an installer that, when you open it, asks which language you want to install it in (Spanish or English), installs it on your computer with a Start menu entry and leaves the program in that language. The portable version installs nothing: you unzip the folder and open AzuraCastManager.exe. You need 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and an AzuraCast installation, version 0.23 or later; with older versions the program warns you, because some features may not be available. The API key is created in the AzuraCast web panel, in My account, API keys. If Windows SmartScreen says the program is unknown, choose "More info" and then "Run anyway". Both versions include a LEEME file (in Spanish) and a README file (in English) with all the keyboard shortcuts. If Windows SmartScreen also warns about the installer, it is because it is not signed: choose "More info" and then "Run anyway".
- Download for Windows (installable version): AzuraCast Manager 1.3.1 (.exe, 28 MB). When you open the installer it asks for the installation language, Spanish or English.
- Download for Windows (portable version): AzuraCast Manager 1.3.1 (.zip, 37 MB). It is not installed: you unzip it and open the program.
- Download AzuraCast Manager 0.3.1 for iPhone (.ipa, 1.6 MB), test version, requires AltStore
- Add to AltStore (installs and updates AzuraCast Manager from AltStore on the iPhone). It needs AltStore already installed and you must open this page in Safari: if the link says it cannot be opened, go to AltStore, Sources tab, tap the plus and paste this address:
https://arielfmeza.com/azuracastmanager-ios/altstore.json
